Have you ever colored your hair at home and had some really good or bad results? Being a licensed hairdresser for over 17 years, hair is one of the first things I notice on someone when I go out. I've seen a lot of bad hair colors (and cuts) in my day!

Tell us about your experiences with hair color. Was it as simple as you thought or did you create a hair disaster? If you need hair color help, this is the place to get that too! Ask a question and see if you can get a good answer. If not, I'll step in and give you my two cents. If you want a good hair color manual, check out this link.

Tell us your color woes and success stories! Remember to include details. You'll get better answers if you tell us your 1) base color, 2) the color you used, and 3) the results you got.

Carolyn, I use Surya henna, it's a demi color product. My base color is a medium brown. I use a mix of chocolate and dark brown and this product takes me right back to my natural color! I have some resistant grays that sometimes don't suck up enough color but it's a treat to see my hair looking the right color again. The color wears off before it grows out, so you have to keep up with redying your hair relatively often. Oftener than I do...I need to do my roots later.

I have used other colors before. I have used dark brown from Feria, Natural Instincts, and Nice and Easy in the past. What I didn't like was that the permanent colors had to grow out and then be cut out of my hair. Sheesh, it took me two years of growing out and cutting, since my brown hair had become jet black from all the layers of dark brown dyes. I didn't like that.

With the Surya cream henna, you get a box of premixed color in a bottle with a snip off tip. (I don't snip it off, I unscrew it and mix the colors in my hand. So, I can mix a little of two different colors and save the rest for later.) You get gloves, a cap, color chart and instructions. It rocks and it's not damaging. Teresa
